What to expect
You don’t have to arrive knowing exactly what’s wrong or agreeing on what needs to change.
We begin with curiosity, making room for each of you, how you experience the relationship and what happens between you.
Through conversation and creative exploration, we begin to notice what might be happening beneath the surface, what matters to each of you and what, if anything, you might want to explore further.
How we begin
Before we meet
You each complete your own intake form through Halaxy, giving you space to share your experiences, perspectives and anything you’d like me to know.
More about this step
I review both forms before we meet to begin understanding your individual experiences and consider whether Creative Couples Therapy is a suitable and safe approach for you both.
Our first session together
We begin with a 90-minute joint session, making room for how each of you experiences the relationship and what happens between you.
More about this step
Alongside conversation, I invite you to explore through images, objects or metaphor, helping us see and understand experiences that might be difficult to put into words.
There’s no need to be artistic. You choose how you participate, and we explore what emerges together.
Time for each of you
You each have a 50-minute individual session, offering space to explore your own experiences, what matters to you and what might be difficult to express when you’re together.
More about this step
Through conversation and imagery, we can gently explore your perspective and what you are beginning to notice about the relationship.
Before we begin, we’ll discuss confidentiality and agree on how information shared individually will be managed within our work together.
Coming back together
We’ll meet together again for 90 minutes to explore what you’re each beginning to notice about yourselves and the relationship.
More about this step
Through conversation and imagery, we bring together what has emerged, making room for new understandings and different perspectives.
Together, we consider what, if anything, you might like to explore further, strengthen or approach differently.
From here, we decide whether to continue, pause, or finish for now.
If you decide to continue
We meet for further 90-minute sessions, following what feels important to explore together.
More about this step
Through conversation, imagery, and creative exploration, we make room for different perspectives, familiar patterns, and new ways of understanding each other.
There’s no fixed number of sessions.
We regularly reflect on how things are going and what feels helpful, allowing the work to unfold at a pace that suits you both.
Not sure where to begin?
Or have a few questions before booking?
This free 20-minute conversation is an opportunity to ask questions, learn a little about how I work and explore whether my approach might be right for you both.
This is an introductory conversation rather than a therapy session.
A few questions you might have
Do we need to be good at art?
No. You don’t need any art experience. We might use images, objects or metaphor to explore something that’s hard to say. You choose how you take part.
What if we see things completely differently?
You don’t have to arrive with the same story or agree on what needs to change. There’s room for each of your experiences and for getting curious about what happens between you.
Will we always come together?
We begin with a 90-minute session together. You each then have a 50-minute individual session before we meet together again. Before we start, we’ll talk about confidentiality and how anything shared individually will be handled.
Do we have to commit to a set number of sessions?
No. After the opening sessions, we decide together whether to continue, pause or finish for now. There’s no fixed number of ongoing sessions.
Can we ask a few questions before booking?
Yes. The free 20-minute chat gives you space to ask about how I work and whether this approach might suit you both. It’s an introductory conversation, rather than a therapy session.
